Jill’s back in Chatton after losing her job in London, and she’s feeling alone. Her writing career has stalled, and there are no ponies in the orchard at Pool Cottage.
But although things look bleak at first, life soon perks up. Lent a pony by her new step-father, Jill becomes involved with her old friends Ann, Diana and James, and the riding school.
Despite her better judgement, Jill gets dragged into a scheme with the Pony Club which provides far more excitement than she was looking for. There’s Brenda Derry, Ann’s little sister, for one thing.
